Jumpstart your research with a single term
As you enter your query, relevant suggestions, for your search, will appear. Recommended content includes Common Queries, Cases, Legal Topics classifications and Practical Law documents. Recommendations will get more specific as you type.
Run a recent or saved search
You can search using a plain language query or Boolean terms and connectors. You can also use the drop-down menu to easily select and re-run a recent or saved search.
Locate additional resources
Once you’ve entered a query, Related Resources guides you to relevant Abridgment classifications, which provide more cases on a specific issue, and Words & Phrases, which provide judicial interpretations of terms.
Narrow with dynamic filtering
Refine your search with dynamic filtering options including content type, jurisdiction, date, court level, Abridgment classification, proceeding type and more. Save time by using the “Restore previous” option to reapply the last set of filters that you used.
Refine your results
Use the missing and must include terms links for greater control over plain language searching. Terms that are missing from a specific document are highlighted, and a link to re-run the search with the missing terms required is provided for more precise results.
Focus in on key terms
Highlight terms related to specific concepts, words, or phrases that matter most to your research so you can easily determine the most relevant results for your issue. Choose to only show search result snippets that contain your highlighted terms.
Scan for relevance
Access all search result snippets containing your key terms, from the result list, using the snippet navigation arrows to determine the relevance of a document efficiently and without having to navigate to the full text of the document.
Pick back up where you left off
Graphical History provides detailed visualizations of your previous research, so you can efficiently retrace your steps to access documents that you may have overlooked and pick-up where you left off.
